Disclaimer text sometimes appears in the middle of the message body

Symptoms

Sometimes the disclaimer text can appear in the middle of a message if the message contains many underscore characters

Cause

Exclaimer searchs the message body for a sequence of underscore (_) characters. This is the reply separator used by certain versions of Outlook Web Access and Outlook client when replying to an RTF message.

Resolution

There are 2 workarounds to this problem:

  1. Do not use long sequences of _ characters in your emails
  2. Remove the sequence of _ characters as a reply separator for Exclaimer.

To remove the _ reply separator

  1. Start the Exclaimer Control Panel
  2. Click on Advanced
  3. In the Reply Separator field, locate the string __________;
  4. Remove this from the list (including the trailing semi-colon)
  5. Press OK
  6. Press Save

More Information

Removing this separator will fix the symptoms described above, but Exclaimer will no longer be able to add the disclaimer below the original message for messages that are formatted in this fashion.
